The Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) Department kicked off the summer season with National Marina Day and a Summer Splash Pool Party June 9.

More than 150 patrons started the day relaxing on the St. Johns River at the Mulberry Cove Marina. In honor of National Marina Day, everyone was invited to enjoy free kayak, canoe and stand up paddleboard rentals, plus 10 percent off all rental boats all day long. There was a hot dog roast from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. that included chips and drinks all for free.

Next, the Summer Splash Pool Party kicked off at noon at the Outdoor Pool. More than 735 people gathered to cool off while enjoying music, contests and prizes available for kids. Attendees plunged down the waterslide and could be seen enjoying free hot dogs, sodas, chips, popsicles and ice cream floats for the celebration. Adult swim was held every hour and children would play in the splash pad and park.

There are many more fun activities and events coming this summer and you don’t want to miss out! For more information, visit the MWR website
