One of the many ways the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department chose to celebrate November is through the Month of the Military Family Fall Fest, hosted by Navy Community Recreation on Nov. 19 aboard NAS Jacksonville.
This free event featured a variety of rides, games and activities for all to enjoy. Such activities included the Ballistic swing ride, photo booth, face painting, hayrides, a pony carousel and petting zoo from Diamond D Ranch, Ultimate Bungee trampolines, a Kentucky Derby carnival game, crafts and coloring, Mobile Zip Line, hula hoops, cupcake walk and inflatable activities.
More than 1,000 patrons attended the event. Food and beverage were available for purchase and popular tunes played as families migrated between each activity.
Crayons and coloring sheets were made also available. Many children and parents created Thanksgiving or fall-themed picture frames in the craft area.
Navy Community Recreation Director Tom Kubalewski said, "This event gives us an opportunity to invite our military families out so they can have some fun together as we begin to move into the busy holiday season. Many have loved ones who are currently deployed or have recently returned from deployment and this gives us a chance to let them know we are thinking about them and give them something to look forward to."
The Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) Department wishes to thank all of the staff and volunteers who made this event possible.
