FISC Jax excels in recent CNAF inspection

The process involved a rigorous review by 16 supply experts, verifying everything from current status on all requisitions to physical security of spaces. The most critical functions scrutinized included inventory accuracy which was a staggering 99.8 percent for the 600 line items that were counted; supply net effectiveness, which ranged from 90 to 93 percent over the past six months; and requisition accuracy which "yielded near-perfect validity" according the inspection team. In all, the inspectors reviewed approximately 450 checklist items for record accuracy, conformance to directives and overall effectiveness of customer support.

The ASD and FISC Detachment Jax team was ultimately awarded a numeric score of 97.86 out of 100, which equates to a narrative score of "outstanding." The findings were all minor, mostly administrative in nature. In several instances, the inspectors praised innovative ideas, specific people and noteworthy functions at the site. The following are just a few of their quotes, "Bravo Zulu to Sherry Price and Melissa Rivera for the superb automatic reorder screening process that they developed locally and are using so effectively. Especially noteworthy is the way they use the RSupply nomenclature field to identify items with specific information such as Quantity Unit Pack, Never Out, seasonal, etc., which allows for expeditious determination of reorder quantity requirements."

"Program management unit records are the best observed by this inspector at any ASD." "ASD Jacksonville pre-expended bins support is outstanding." "Bravo Zulu to Judy Hammond for her outstanding management of BP-28 stock requirements, maintenance of financial accountability and coordination of functional area supervisor functions."

"The stock control and warehouse teams have a very good working relationship resulting in a well organized and efficient operation in support of flight line readiness." "Bravo Zulu to Ed Toledo for his superb management of the entire Carcass Tracking program (not a single discrepancy in this area)."

The team's leadership was extremely pleased with the results. Capt. Kyle Cozad, commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing Eleven remarked, "I fully understand what a significant accomplishment this represents."

FISC Detachment Jax Commanding Officer Capt. Karl Rau noted that the team "had really hit a homerun." NAS Jacksonville Supply Officer Cmdr. Terry Surdyke indicated that he felt blessed with such a tremendous group of folks so dedicated to everyday excellence in their jobs supporting the NAS Jacksonville flight line and that it definitely includes contractor support partners from Akima Corporation, the contractor that performs the warehousing and delivery functions.

The inspection process proved that, day in and day out, the Jacksonville team, comprised of ASD Jacksonville and FISC Det Jacksonville (supported by AKIMA) are keenly focused on the station mission of "enabling naval aviation warfighting readiness."
