Two Jacksonville Sailors selected for Seaman to Admiral Program

FC1 Jeremiah Bond and FC2 Julie Rosa made it through all the channels to finally get accepted into the prestigious program.
STA is a commissioning program in which participants maintain the pay, benefits and privileges they enjoy as active duty Sailors and receive a scholarship to attend a top-notch university. Each of these Sailors goes on to rewarding careers as naval officers.
Rosa of the Transient Personnel Unit (TPU) has waited for this opportunity. "I always had it in the back of my mind to apply, but when I was on board USS The Sullivans, I just never had time because the operations tempo was so high. When I finally got on shore duty, my husband said, 'you know you really need to do it,' so I did."
Rosa chose to become commissioned as a Supply Corps officer. "I'm getting my degree in business and that's the degree the Supply Corps takes," she continued. Rosa already has her associate's degree and has chosen the University of North Florida to finish her bachelor's degree.
