"We are truly blessed with a good turnout of the faithful to enjoy recreation, conversations, fun contests, outstanding picnic fare, and fantastic live music by Navy Band Southeast," said an exuberant Command Chaplain (Cmdr.) Gerald Felder at the Sept. 13 NAS Jax Chapel Center Open House.

Felder (Church of God), along with chaplains (Lt.) Buster Williams (Presbyterian) and (Lt.) Thomas Bingol (Lutheran), have each checked in within the past five months. Monsignor Joseph Lamonde is the civilian Catholic priest at the Chapel Center.

"Today is a great day to have fun and also to mingle with our guests to talk about faith and how we handle moral challenges," said Williams.

Chaplain (Lt.) Buster Williams turned command of the dunking tank over to NAS Jax CO Capt. Jack Scorby Jr., who declared Captain's Mast for any revelers that caused him to experience submersion.

Bingol said it's also important for Sailors, Marines and their families to know that both All Saints Protestant Chapel and St. Edward's Catholic Chapel are open during normal working hours for prayer and meditation.

"We're here as a lifeline to provide spiritual and moral support when everyday pressures may become overwhelming," said Felder. "You can also contact the Chapel Center to learn about our Sunday school, Bible study, youth activities, adult and youth choirs, and community outreach services."

Looking for a good time? Then be sure to book the "TGIF Dixieland Band" of Navy Band Southeast. They had saints marching all around the Chapel Center Open House.
