NAS Jax in 'Exercise Solid Curtain'
Exercise Solid Curtain 2006 was developed to enhance the training and readiness of naval security personnel. It is a regularly scheduled exercise and is not in response to any specific threat.
Personnel living and working on the base may notice some disruptions to normal operations on a limited level, including possible delays in base access. There may also be increased military activity associated with the exercise.
On Sept. 21 around 2 p.m., the base will increase force protection condition which will involve more strict access restrictions, increased levels of security and increased readiness. This elevation should be maintained for no more than 12 hours.
Solid Curtain gives the Navy the opportunity to train for force protection conditions using realistic scenarios. It is one way that the Navy and NAS Jax are working to maintain a high level of readiness on base and across the fleet.
