HS-11 to hold change of command

Michel a native of Brandon, Fla., enlisted in the United States Navy in 1982, where he served as a nuclear trained machinist mate on board USS Stonewall Jackson (SSBN 634 Gold Crew). During his tour, Michel completed two deployments, earning his Silver Dolphins.
In May 1989, Michel graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and was designated a naval aviator and earned his wings of gold in 1990. Michel's sea assignments include flying the H-3 Sea King and H-60 F/H Seahawk with the "Dusty Dogs" of HS-7 on board USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) and USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and as the navigator on board USS Inchon (LPH 12). He joined HS-11 in May 2006.
His shore tours include assignment as a flight instructor with HS-1 and as the operations officer for Commander Helicopter Sea Combat Wing, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
Cmdr. John Nettleton
He has accumulated more than 2,500 hours flying helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
During his tenure as commanding officer, Nettleton led the Dragonslayers on a seven-month deployment in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The squadron has also benefited from is leadership during six months of arduous preparations for an upcoming deployment next month.
Nettleton will report to the National War College, Industrial College of the Armed forces.
