Not New Shop moves to new location
"We are fortunate to have this new location. By being located close to Navy Relief and the USO, we are now able to collaborate our efforts more efficiently," said Pearl Aran, president of Navy Wives Club of America (NWCA) Jacksonville and a member for 20 years.
In addition to uniforms, the Not New Shop sells second-hand uniforms, civilian clothing, housewares and baby items. Because the new location is much smaller in size, the shop is no longer able to handle large household items like furniture and appliances. All the items are donated and cash donations are also greatly appreciated. Store hours remain the same - Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NWCA puts the donations to use on and off base. Within the Navy community, items are given to families in need, when referred by the chaplain, hospital or command and the families of deceased retirees for burial honors. The club also shares donated items with a variety of local organizations including the American Red Cross, Hubbard House and HabiJax.
