It was another successful summer for the Morale, Welfare & Recreation (MWR) Department at NAS Jax Freedom Lanes as more than 6,000 patrons participated in the 9th annual 80 Days of Summer program, from May 28 through Aug. 28.
Bowlers entered the weekly drawings with every game bowled, which led to more than 12,000 entries for prize drawings. Youth bowlers 17 years of age and younger were given one free game of bowling every day for the entire summer. There were more than 4,600 games bowled overall and close to 3,100 of those games were bowled for free.
This year's winner was Ella Boyd, winner of the Runner Up Grand prize. Boyd won a Cape Canaveral Weekend Expedition, which grants a two-night stay at the Country Inn & Suites By Carlson along with four admission tickets to Kennedy Space Center and lunch with an astronaut.
