The FRCSE Gold Basketball team recorded their fifth consecutive NAS Jacksonville Captain's Cup Basketball Championship. FRCSE finished the regular season with a 10-1 record to earn the number one seed for the 2016 Intramural Summer Basketball Playoffs. They finished the last five basketball seasons with an incredible 58-3 record.

In the 2016 summer basketball playoffs, FRCSE Gold cruised through the bracket with victories over VP-62/FLCJ 63-49; NAVHOSP Jax 58-49; and FRC Blue 77-72 to get to the championship game. Their toughest opponent was their other FRC Blue team who gave them a run for their money in their first meeting. FRC Blue defeated NAVHOSP Jax 67-65 to set up a second meeting against their rival FRC Gold team.

In the championship game, FRC Blue jumped out to a good lead. However, FRC Gold did not panic and started cutting into the lead. FRC Blue had a two point lead at the end of the first half by the score of 33-31. FRC Gold took the lead for the first time in the second half hitting four three point shots to FRC Blue's two three pointers. FRC Gold took advantage of FRC Blue getting in foul trouble by making their free throws down the stretch.

FRC Gold went on to win the game by the score of 66-59 to win their fifth consecutive Captain's Cup Basketball Championship. Earnest Rowe (FRC Gold) and Edward Moon (FRC Blue) led their respective teams with 20 points.
