Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy (DASN) (Military Manpower and Personnel) Juliet Beyler, was welcomed aboard NAS Jacksonville Sept. 12 by Executive Officer Capt. Michael Connor. She was on base to attend a CNIC Regional Advisory Board (RAB) to review policies regarding fleet and family readiness at the N9 level.
According to MWR Instal-lation Program Director John Bushick, Secretary Beyler took advantage of facility tours at NAS Jax, NS Mayport and USMC Blount Island Command.
"She was particularly interested in quality of life facilities such as our Navy Exchange, new commissary, Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS), Child and Youth Programs, and Naval Hospital Jacksonville.
"She was also here to address RAB N9 program managers from around the world during their annual meeting aboard NAS Jacksonville," said Bushick.
According to her biography, Secretary Beyler was appointed as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Military Manpower and Personnel in May 2016.
She is responsible for establishment and oversight of policies related to Navy and Marine Corps active duty service members and their families.
This may include topics such as: recruiting and retention; compensation; quality of life; healthcare; and training and education.
Beyler said, "Healthcare falls under my portfolio, so I look forward to my familiarization tour at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Overall, from what I've seen, I'm encouraged by all the MILCON and quality of life programs underway in Navy Region Southeast."
