After 23 years of hard work and dedication, Charlotte, N.C. native Robert Winchester was promoted to NAS Jacksonville Chief of Fire Prevention July 18.

"With him being a tremendous supervisor, leader, and manager there is no other person that can fill the position better than he can. He brings insight and expertise to the new position," said Fire Chief of First Coast Navy Fire and Emergency Services Mark Brusoe.

"I feel so excited and blessed about the new promotion. With being the new chief of fire prevention, I am going to bring positive and innovative changes to NAS Jacksonville," said Winchester.

"I will do that by getting people more involved with fire prevention by incorporating things such as social media and also bridging the gap with the city of Jacksonville, who is our partner. By incorporating fire prevention training and working with the city it will change the way they look at us and build a great relationship like a brotherhood should have," he added.

Winchester will now be in charge of inspections aboard the base, hands-on training with fire extinguishers, safety standdowns, and general public education about fire prevention.
