Military families enjoy Pal Day in oldest city

It was a beautiful, sunny day as hundreds of military members and their families spent Saturday enjoying the city of St. Augustine's numerous attractions at no cost during this year's Pal Day. For the past 50 years, the USO Council of St. Augustine and many of the city's tourist attractions have hosted this special day set aside each December specifically for First Coast military members and their families to enjoy the city's attractions free of charge. Many came proudly wearing their military uniforms or command ball caps to spend a few hours visiting the sights and to watch the annual Christmas parade. [ More ]

Get your shots now: Flu vaccine events scheduled for NAS Jax
Naval Hospital Jacksonville began offering influenza vaccinations to eligible beneficiaries on Nov. 9. Hospital staff provided shots to 180 military, family members and retirees at the Navy Exchange (NEX) Food Court located aboard NAS Jacksonville.

Thirteen VP-30 officers and Sailors from E-1 to O-5 are currently serving their country in Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, and Tampa as individual augmentees (IAs).

Sanders presented Bronze Star medal
Naval Facilities Engin-eering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast Commanding Officer Capt. Michael Blount presented NAVFAC Southeast Gulf Coast Integrated Product Team Leader Cmdr. Scot Sanders with the Bronze Star Medal in front of his family and co-workers on Nov. 20 for achievements made during his third tour in Iraq.

NAS Jacksonville hosts Scion Slam Military Tour
Among the holiday shoppers and Christmas tree lot, Saturday's Navy Exchange and Commissary Parking lot was busier than usual while NAS Jacksonville hosted the final tour stop for the Scion Slam Military Tour.
