Medical mentor awarded Bronze Star

Individual Augmentee (IA) duty was truly a life-changing experience for Lt. Cmdr. Karen Stover, a family nurse practitioner at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. GIVING TREE: Do what you can for less fortunate NEX lights 'Giving Tree'
The NAS Jacksonville Navy Exchange (NEX) held its second annual lighting of the "Giving Tree" in the NEX courtyard Nov. 20. The tree offers a way for NEX patrons to help a child, whose family is a little less fortunate, enjoy something special for Christmas.

Keenan awarded Purple Heart
AWC Ryan Keenan of the VP-5 "Mad Foxes" was recently awarded the Purple Heart Medal in a ceremony at All Saints Chapel for wounds he received as an individual augmentee in Iraq assigned to the First Battalion 506th Infantry Regiment.

CARNIVAL: Next one coming in April Smiles and fun prove carnival a huge success
NAS Jacksonville hosted the annual Military Family Ap-preciation Carnival Nov. 15 at the softball fields across from the Navy Exchange/Commissary complex. Luckily, the weather held for most of the afternoon as the children enjoyed several spinning rides, a giant slide, Ferris wheel, twirling strawberries and inflatable bouncy houses.
