'Dusty Dogs' aid rescue at sea
The HS-7 ''Dusty Dogs'' rushed to aid the U.S. Coast Guard in its search and rescue efforts of five fishermen lost at sea off the coast of Jacksonville Oct. 1. After receiving a call from the Coast Guard for assistance Sept. 30, the Sailors of HS-7 rushed into action. Although not in an alert status for the weekend, the squadron recalled duty section personnel to safely launch one of their H-60 helicopters within two hours after receiving the initial request for assistance from the Coast Guard.

Wagstaff back for air show
Local favorite Patty Wagstaff is returning her ''hard-core aerobatics routine'' to the 2006 NAS Jacksonville Air Show Oct. 27-29. Wagstaff, based out of St. Augustine, flies one of the most thrilling, low-level performances in the world today. Flying before millions of spectators each year, her breathtaking maneuvers provide an up-close view of the precision and complexity of modern, unlimited hard-core aerobatics. Her aggressive smooth style sets the standard for performers the world over.

Sailors, DoD civilians run to educate children of those killed, injured in battle
Sailors and DoD civilians from NAS Jacksonville, NS Mayport and NSB Kings Bay, Ga. ran the Marine Corps 1³2 Marathon to raise funds to help put children of service members killed or injured in action through college Saturday. They finished the punishing 13.1-mile course in order to show solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the corps.

Cumberbatch gets selected for ESD program
NAS Jax Navy Exchange (NEX) Soft-line Divisional Manager Claudette Cum-berbatch was selected to go through the Navy Ex-change Command Exe-cutive Skills Development (ESD) program several months ago. She will complete her training next month. To become a student of the ESD, you have to be nominated.
