FRCSE pilot earns Bronze Star for IA service in Iraq

Mitchell Conover was awarded the Bronze Star Medal on Sept. 17 at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) for distinguished service while serving as Brigade Electronic Warfare (EW) Officer, 18th Combat Engineer Brigade, Iraq from May 31, 2008 to March 12, 2009 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. MCPON expresses gratitude to ombudsmen
Dozens of commanding officers, executive officers and command master chiefs honored 62 volunteer ombudsmen from throughout Navy Region Southeast at the NAS Jacksonville Officers' Club Sept. 29 to celebrate the 39th anniversary of the Navy Family Ombudsman Program. Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) (SS/SW) Rick West was guest speaker.

NAS Jax takes the lead to prevent domestic violence
More than 125 Sailors and civilians joined together to launch the awareness campaign against "intimate abuse" with a walk and rally Oct. 1 at Patriots Grove, where NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. signed his proclamation, designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month aboard the station.

VR-58 takes sports challenge trophy
The NAS Jax Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) hosted the 2009 Fall Sports Challenge Oct 1-2, bringing out hundreds of participants for some "friendly" competition.

CFC fund drive now underway
