CFC kicks off annual fund drive

The 2006 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is officially under way for NAS Jack-sonville and all of its tenant commands and departments. The campaign, which officially kicked off Sept. 11, runs through Dec. 15. It is held each year to help residents of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, our nation and people in need around the world. Last year, more than 170 local agencies benefited from the drive, enabling them to provide critical services within our community. [ More ]

N'EXpress holds grand re-opening
The NAS Jacksonville Navy Exchange (NEX) N'EXpress held a grand re-opening ceremony Sept. 7. Formerly known as The Outpost it has undergone many changes in the past few weeks. The new name was chosen from hundreds of entries submitted at the NEX during the renovation process. The winner, Chris Ingham won a $50 gift certificate to the NEX. Ingham is a military family member who recently enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program.


NAS Jax in 'Exercise Solid Curtain'
NAS Jax will join bases throughout the Navy next week for an exercise to train Navy security personnel. Exercise Solid Curtain 2006 was developed to enhance the training and readiness of naval security personnel. It is a regularly scheduled exercise and is not in response to any specific threat.

Florida bombing range helps pilots hone skills
The Pinecastle Range Complex located in the Ocala National Forest, is the only area on the United States East Coast that allows pilots to sharpen their skills by conducting live and practice inert filled ordnance training. The range consists of three areas, Pinecastle Impact Range, Rodman Ordnance Range and the Lake George Range, which allows aircrews to practice over water.
