To help improve traffic flow onto NAS Jax from Roosevelt Boulevard, the "commercial gate" located just north of the Yorktown (main) gate, is now open for inbound privately owned vehicles (POVs) from 5-8 a.m., Monday through Friday.

VP-16 joins American-Japanese ASW exercise near Okinawa
The VP-16 "War Eagles" recently participated in an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise with Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) P-3 squadron VP-5. The interoperability exercise began on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa with a formal welcoming of JMSDF VP-5, based at nearby Naha, Okinawa.

FRCSE extends service life of the F/A-18 A-D Hornet 'Spa treatment' for tired strike fighters
The "legacy" Hornet (models A-D) is the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet's predecessor. The first model was introduced in the late 1970s as a spin-off of the U.S. Air Force lightweight fighter competition. While the General Dynamics F-16 won, Northrop's YF-17 eventually evolved into the McDonnell-Douglas (now Boeing) F/A-18 Hornet.
