CNRSE takes energy conservation seriously

At the first meeting of his energy council Aug. 21, Rear Adm. Townsend Alexander, commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE), signed the new energy instruction that establishes the energy policy for installations. CNRSE will lead by example with a comprehensive and robust energy strategy to meet all new laws and policies set forth for Navy Energy and Water Conservation. [ More ]

Safety stand down promotes awareness
NAS Jax conducted a safety stand down to remind Sailors and civilian employees to make smart decisions to stay safe over the Labor Day weekend at the VP-30 auditorium Sept. 3. Coordinated by the base safety office, the event promoted traffic and recreational safety awareness.

'Rising from the Sand'
An HH-60H Seahawk that suffered serious damage in Balad, Iraq in October 2008, recently completed its first flight after an extensive nine-month repair process at Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE). Upon successfully completing its series of functional check flights, the aircraft was returned to the "Red Wolves" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 84 based at NS Norfolk, Va.

Skipper underscores importance of FAP
As he does every quarter, NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. makes it a priority to welcome participants in the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) leadership training. NAS Jax leadership, along with tenant commanding officers, executive officers and senior enlisted personnel, were all ears Sept. 3 at the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFCS) conference room in Building 554.

NAS Jacksonville celebrates diversity with annual fair
Despite the damper skies and steady fall of rain, it was a good turnout for the ninth annual NAS Jacksonville Multi-Cultural Fair Aug. 27. Military and civilian personnel gathered under the Bachelor Officer's Pavilion to learn about other cultures and enjoy some tasty food samples.
