NAS Jacksonville and the Federal Emergency Man-agement Agency (FEMA) have teamed up once again to be on hand, ready to provide relief from this hurricane season's first major threat, Tropical Storm Ernesto, which made its track through the state of Florida last week. [ More ]

NAS to expand wastewater reuse system
Naval Facilities Southeast Public Works Department (NAVFACSE PWD), in conjunction with the NAS Jax Environmental Department has applied for a $175,000 Defense Infrastructure Grant from the office of the Florida governor to design a treated wastewater management system that eliminates the station's discharge of effluent into the St. Johns River. Travis Zwenger, planner engineer with Navy Facilities Engineering Command Southeast Public Works Department, did all the research and put the application package together.

VP-16 members visit France
Nineteen members of VP-16 were recently invited to spend three days on the French Riviera courtesy of the French American Navy League Chapter. After a short flight in a squadron P-3, the Sailors arrived in Toulon, France. Following a short drive through the scenic French countryside, they reached the city of Cannes.

While many members of NAS Jacksonville work on aircraft, build, expand and repair base facilities or even patrol the gates and base to secure our safety, others have a more explosive job.
