Nearly 80 Sailors from NAS Jacksonville were recognized for receiving the Sailor of the Quarter award from their commands during a luncheon Aug. 9. CNOCM(SW/AW) Richard Trimmer, command master chief of Navy Region Southeast, was the guest speaker for the event. [ More ]

Making the grade to CPO
The U.S. Navy has a 113-year tradition - the fraternity of chief petty officers (CPO), the backbone of the force, the people who truly get the job done. Sept. 16 is an important day in many Sailors' lives. Traditionally that day has marked the official transition from petty officer first class to CPO, the cross over from blue to khaki.


Service members and civilians due American-Amicable refunds
The American-Amicable Life Insur-ance Company of Waco, Texas and its affiliates - Pioneer American Insurance Company and Pioneer Security Life Insurance Company - will be required to provide immediate cash refunds and increased policy benefits totaling $70 million.

3rd NCR Seabee Rodeo
Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14 (NMCB-14) hosted the first 3rd Naval Construction Regiment (3rd NCR) Seabee Rodeo at NAS Jacksonville Aug. 4-6. A NMCB-14 team competed against a NMCB-23 team from Fort Belvoir, Va. and a NMCB-24 team from Huntsville, Ala.

Hospital staff puts 'healthy foot forward' to set example of physical readiness
Naval Hospital Jacksonville staff must ''put their healthy foot forward'' is why Capt. Raquel Bono said physical readiness is a must for her staff. For some time now Bono has set the example for staff members who are working out in the hospital's Physical Training (PT) program. She not only encourages her staff, both active duty and civilians, to participate but also shows up herself to set the pace.
