West, the former Pacific Fleet, fleet master chief from 2005-07, transferred to his new job last month. [ More ] NAS Jacksonville welcomes new XO Capt. Steve Holmes has reported to NAS Jackson-ville as the new executive officer (XO) and says he's looking forward to the challenges of his new role here. "I'm excited to be here. As an aviator, my past tours were aviation specific. This job is a whole new business to me, which makes me a bit nervous but I realize this staff is full of experts. My job here is really to manage more than to be a subject matter expert like I was in my squadrons," said Holmes. "I am looking forward to this tour. It's part of my personal professional growth." Their visit was part of an advanced training program which offers the cadets the opportunity to work alongside active and reserve members in their daily routine.
