Fire Department takes over EMS

Special ombudsmen training class held
The first regional Certify Ombudsman Trainer (COT) class was held at NAS Jacksonville last week in an effort to train and certify command ombudsmen and Fleet and Family Support Center staff to teach Ombudsman Basic Training (OBT) and to educate new and existing command ombudsmen on changes in the program. The class was part of Commander, Navy Installation Command's (CNIC) initiative to upgrade the Navy Family Ombudsmen Program to better assist commands and families in times of need.

Afghanistan experiences earn Navy master chief a Bronze Star
HMCM Rick Wilson was awarded the Bronze Star by Naval Hospital Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Raquel Bono June 8 to recognize his distinguished service from March 4, 2006 to Feb. 3, 2007.

Mulberry Cove Marina Hosts NJROTC Sailing Class 2007
Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) students from 26 high schools throughout Florida and Georgia gathered at NAS Jacksonville last week for some hands-on training that taught them to sail a variety of different types of boats. This is the seventh consecutive year the cadets attended the camp here. The Interscholastic Sailing Association, South Atlantic Division, sponsors the 40-hour week sailing camp.

NMSC ensures Reservists practice medicine
The Executive Committee for Medical and Dental Staff (ECOMS/DS) held a monthly meeting here recently to review the credentials files of Navy Reserve practitioners. This committee, consisting of both reserve and active duty medical staff officers, serves one of Navy medicine's most important functions - recommending a medical practitioner for independent service in one of hundreds of military healthcare clinics and hospitals worldwide.
