Seabees break ground for new admin facility
NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. joined the construction specialists of Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202 Detachment Jacksonville June 4 to break ground for a new two-story administration facility at the Seabee's Birmingham Avenue compound overlooking Mulberry Cove.
Wings Over America scholarship winners
Two Northeast Florida students were among 40 recipients across the United States to receive $1,000 college scholarships awarded by Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation. NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. presented the scholarships to the students and their parents June 5 near the F-14 Tomcat display at Heritage Park.
NAS Jax presented SECNAV safety award
NAS Jacksonville Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. and members of the base safety office were presented the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Award for Achievement in Safety Ashore in the large non-industrial category by Commander, Navy Region Southeast Rear Adm. Townsend Alexander June 3.
Team Navy Jax rides for special cause
For the fourth consecutive year, 22 members of Team Navy Jax spent last weekend pedaling 132 miles in support of Jacksonville's fifth anniversary Tour de Cure to benefit the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
