NAS Jax 'Dusty Dogs' home from deployment

The "Dusty Dogs" of HS-7 celebrated their homecoming June 1 after completing a six-month deployment with Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3) on board USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. [ More ]

CNRSE visits OLF Whitehouse
Rear Adm. Michael Vitale, commander, Navy Region Southeast (CNRSE), visited the Navy's Outlying Field (OLF) Whitehouse May 28 for an informational briefing. He was accompanied by NAS Jax Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby, Jr., and NAS Jax Executive Officer Capt. Steven Holmes.

NAS Jax recognizes Sailors of the Quarter
NAS Jacksonville recognized the Sailors of the Quarter (SOQ) for the 2008 first quarter at a luncheon at the NAS Jax Officers Club May 28. Capt. Raquel Bono, commanding officer of Naval Hospital Jacksonville, was guest speaker. After the presentation of the colors by the Naval Hospital Jacksonville Honor Support Team, MU3 Sean Meyer of Navy Band Southeast sang the national anthem, and NAS Jax Chaplain (Lt.) Buster Williams gave the invocation. NAS Jax Command Master Chief CMDCM (SW/SS) Jeff Hudson welcomed the guests and introduced Bono.

Team Navy Jax rides in annual Tour de Cure
Twenty members of Team Navy Jax participated in the fourth annual Jacksonville Tour de Cure, which is held each year to benefit the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The cyclists braved the 94-degree temperature pedaling 128 miles during the two-day event.

Free food, great music and cool prizes what else could a young, single Sailor ask for? The bi-annual NAS Jax Barracks Bash delivered it all May 29, courtesy of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department's Liberty program.
