VP-30 earns CNO Safety "S" and Golden Wrench

NMCRS fund drive exceeds goal
A wrap-up celebration held May 21 at the NAS Jacksonville Officers' Club officially ended the 2009 Navy Region Southeast Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) Fund Drive. This year's fund drive generated $283,768 to benefit Sailors, Marines and their families who receive assistance through loans and grants in times of need. The total amount of funds exceeded this year's goal by more than $65,000.

New NAS Jax VR squadron holds change of command
The proud men and women of VR-62 assembled in ranks May 16 to bid farewell to Commanding Officer Cmdr. Shawn Casey in their final change of command ceremony at NAS Brunswick, Maine. In the presence of colleagues, family and friends, Casey was relieved by former Executive Officer Cmdr. Christopher Thomson in this time-honored ceremony.

VP-30 wings of gold ceremony
Eleven ensigns assigned to VP-30 received their "wings of gold" insignia May 14, designating each as a Naval Flight Officer (NFO). VP-30 Commanding Officer Capt. Rich Fite and former CMO-11 Commanding Officer Cmdr. Pat McCormick officiated at the event.
