Clay County honors military members

Groundbreaking ceremony slated
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place May 30 at 10 a.m. at NAS Jacksonville for the new Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast Engineering Operations Center.

Stacey comes home to NAS Jacksonville
American Idol contestant and member of Navy Band Southeast, MU3 Phil Stacey returned to duty at NAS Jacksonville last Monday. After making it to the top six in the competition and being voted off, he returned home to Jacksonville where the Navy and civilian community welcomed him back with open arms.

Boensel selected for promotion, new assignment
Commander, Navy Region Southeast Rear Adm. Mark Boensel has been selected for promotion from a one-star rear admiral lower-half to the two-star rank of rear admiral upper half in the U.S. Navy. His official promotion will occur after Senate confirmation.

Team Navy Jax hits the road for a special cause
For the second consecutive year, 13 members of Team Navy Jax spent last weekend pedaling 124 miles in support of the Jacksonville Tour de Cure to benefit the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
