Naval attaches tour NAS Jacksonville
More than 25 high-ranking foreign military officers visited NAS Jacksonville May 13 as part of the 2009 Naval Attaché Spring Tour, sponsored by Chief of Naval Operations, to acquaint them with American business, defense and cultural activities.

Capt. Robert McKenna relieved Capt. Lynn McCarthy as commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Jacksonville May 16.

NAS Jax hosts Seabee rodeo
The annual Third Naval Construction Regiment Seabee Rodeo was held aboard NAS Jacksonville April 28 through May 3. The competing teams were NMCB 14 of NAS Jax, NMCB 23 of Fort Belvoir, Va., and NMCB 24 of Redstone Arsenal Ala.

Former "Mauler" named Sea Sailor of the Year
Aviation Electronics Technician First Class (AW/SW) Robert Barber Jr. was recently named 2008 U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF) Sea Sailor of the Year (SOY) by Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces, Adm. Jonathan Greenert at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in Norfolk, Va.

Smith takes helm at VP-45
The "Pelicans" of VP-45 gathered aboard NAS Jacksonville May 8 with families, friends and special guests for the change of command ceremony where Cmdr. Gordon Wilson was relieved by his former executive officer, Cmdr. Andrew Smith.
