NOSC gives back to the community

Many Sailors contribute their time, whether on or off-duty, toward volunteer efforts in the community. Whether individually, or in a group, military personnel in Jacksonville alone donate thousands of hours per year. The Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) at NAS Jacksonville has one group of Sailors who contribute to that effort. [ More ]

Military couple going dual IA
As newlyweds, MC2 Chris Brown and MC2 Regina Brown have been happily married for the last two years. They both joined the Navy in early 2003, met in "A" school where they fostered a friendship that turned into two best friends joining as one.

Navy volunteers help with national book drive
Navy personnel from several NAS Jax Departments turned out last week to help with the annual book drive sponsored by the non-profit, national organization First Book and The Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation. The groups of volunteers spent hours organizing, packaging and loading books into vehicles so the books could be delivered to children of low-income families in the local area. The event has been held each spring since 2003.

Yoder selected NHA Pilot of the Year
Lt. Cmdr. David Yoder of the HS-11 "Dragonslayers", was recently selected as the Naval Helicopter Association (NHA) Pilot of the Year during a symposium in San Diego. Yoder, a native of Ann Arbor, Mich. and a 1994 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, earned the illustrious award for his consistent demonstration of superior aeronautical ability and outstanding performance in his collateral billets.

Seabees, Naval Hospital lend skills to Children's Home Society of Florida
Naval Hospital Jacksonville teamed up with Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit (CBMU) 202 Detachment Jax to help out the Children's Home Society of Florida April 24-27. Organized by the hospital's Pastoral Care Department, the Sailors used their building skills to turn what was a picnic pavilion on the home's grounds into a much needed, climate-controlled, storage facility.
