MPRF Reunion and Symposium at NAS Jax was a global attraction

With a record-setting attendance of more than 500 active duty, reserve and retired VP/VQ officers from around the world, the 2009 Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Force (MPRF) Reunion and Symposium, hosted by VP-30 and CPRW-11 at NAS Jacksonville April 1-3, was an unqualified success. Every MPRF squadron was represented, along with detachments from Canada and the United Kingdom. [ More ]

Individual augmentees honored
NAS Jacksonville and the North-east Florida Navy League Council hosted the bi-annual Individual Augmentee (IA) Appre-ciation Luncheon April 7 at the NAS Jax Officers' Club. The event, honoring 104 IAs and 40 spouses from the base and tenant commands, kicked off with a welcome from NAS Jax Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr.



NAS Jacksonville has earned the prestigious Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV) Award for Achievement in Safety Ashore in the large non-industrial category. This award is presented each year to recognize Navy and Marine Corps shore activities and ashore fleet operational support units for their quality occupational safety and health programs.

SAFETY: Free training available Commander, Naval Safety Center visits NAS Jax
Commander, Naval Safety Center Rear Adm. Arthur Johnson made several stops in the Jacksonville area during his visit here April 2-3. After spending time at NS Mayport April 2, the admiral arrived at NAS Jacksonville to attend the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Force (MPRF) Symposium and host a motorcycle safety roundtable session with NAS Jax Sailors.

Anglers reel in lunkers at MWR Bass Tournament BASS TOURNEY: With help from friends
At the crack of dawn, Saturday, 78 anglers headed out from Mulberry Cove Marina to participate in the 27th NAS Jax Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Bass Tournament. Famous for its motto, "Relocating confused bass since 1982," the April 11 event attracted active duty members, reservists, retirees and Department of Defense civilians. Teams consisted of two anglers per boat and they fished from first light until late into the afternoon.
