Pilots and crew members from HS-11 rescued a Sailor stationed aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) who fell overboard shortly before midnight March 6. [ More ]

Many service members coming back from the Middle East have a hard time readjusting to a normal life style and some even suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to physiological and psychological stressors experienced while deployed. Military members go through a series of health screenings before and after deployment to identify any mental or physical problems that may have been caused by their deployment and treatment is issued accordingly. However, until recently, the families of those deployed have had little in the way of education on what to expect from their spouse or parent after they return from the war zone.

Navy testing identifies levels of coliform in water exceeding state drinking water rules
Navy sampling of the water system on NAS Jacksonville in February 2007 identified elevated levels of coliform exceeding Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) water rules. The drinking water on NAS Jacksonville is sampled at 42 different locations every month. On Feb. 27, five samples tested positive for coliform in the weapons, reserve center, medical, bachelor enlisted quarters and exchange areas.

'Scouts' disestablished after 47 years of service
The "Scouts" of VS-24 are being disestablished during a ceremony today at 10 a.m. at Hangar 116. The ceremony will end 47 years of service as an Atlantic fleet carrier-based antisubmarine warfare squadron (ASW). VS-24 was the first S-3 squadron to move to NAS Jacksonville in 1997 when NAS Cecil Field closed. The squadron has been in Jacksonville the past 34 years.
