Tax center now open for business

The NAS Jacksonville Tax Cen-ter in Building 13 at the main gate officially opened for business Jan. 22 with a short ribbon cutting ceremony. The tax center is run by military and civilian volunteers who provide free basic tax preparation services through the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). [ More ]

Green says farewell to NAS Jax after rewarding tour
After three years as the NAS Jax command master chief, CMDCM(SW) Chris Green is saying his goodbyes this week as he prepares for a one-year individual augmentee tour in Afghanistan.

Program helps Sailors learn dangers of drunk driving
The "Save a Life Tour" made a stop at NAS Jacksonville Jan. 25-26. The program travels across the nation to educate young adults about the dangers of drunk driving. Sailors were able to participate in a non-traditional opportunity to experience a state-of-the-art, interactive driving experience that simulates driving under the influence of alcohol.

Navy Drug Testing Labs Standarization, certification ensure quality of testing
NAS Jacksonville is the home of one of three Navy Drug Screening Laboratories (NDSL). The others are located in Great Lakes, Ill. and San Diego. These labs support the Navy's "Zero Tolerance" endeavor by providing legally defensible and scientifically accurate testing of service member urine specimens for the presence of controlled substances and illegal drugs.
