NAS Jax remembers fallen pilots

During a stormy day in September 2005, two VS-32 pilots lost their lives after their plane crashed across the street from NAS Jacksonville's airfield. Lt. Cmdr. Scott Bracher and Lt. Cmdr. Thomas Blake were recognized Jan. 19 during a tree dedication ceremony in Heritage Park. [ More ]

Annual CFC drive comes to an end
A grand celebration held Jan. 17 at the NAS Jacksonville Officers' club officially ended the 2006 Northeast Florida/ Southeast Georgia Combined federal Campaign (CFC).

Deputy director of security to retire tomorrow
NAS Jax Deputy Director of Security Gary Newman will retire for the second time from the NAS Jax Security Department during a ceremony at the NAS Jax Officers' Club tomorrow at 10 a.m. Many of his co-workers, friends and associates will help celebrate the completion of his illustrious 24-year career with the security department. Rear Adm. Donald Bullard, commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, will be the guest speaker.

Drill helps emergency crews stay prepared
"There's fire everywhere! People are dying! Send help quick! I've never seen anything like this before! It was a big green plane and just crashed near the hospital!" yelled a witness as he called 9-1-1. Luckily, it was just a drill held last Friday at NAS Jax to keep emergency crews prepared for the worst.

Youth Activities Center making strides
The NAS Jacksonville's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Youth Activities Center (YAC) has broken ground by beginning the construction of a new facility which will be located adjacent to the current building. Harry Pepper and Associates Design-Build Team is the contractor responsible for the project and it is expected that the new center will be open and ready to use for the next school year.
