NAS Jax supports Truman Strike Force

Security squadron launches at Mulberry Cove
Navy Reservists assigned to Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MSRON) 10, headquartered at NAS Jacksonville, launched their four high-speed patrol boats in the St. Johns River June 19 and set course for NS Mayport to practice anti-terrorism and force protection (AT/FP) skills - in preparation for their upcoming Unit Level Training Readiness Assessment (ULTRA) inspection.

Aviation instructors glimpse life in the control tower
The NAS Jacksonville Air Operations Department hosted three instructors from the Frank H. Peterson Aviation Career Academy Program in Jacksonville June 18-19. The visit was part of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce 2009 Teachers in Business Externship Program designed to provide teachers with real work experiences and to allow them to observe the skills needed for high-wage and high-demand employment.

Students learn to sail at NAS Jax
Sixty NJROTC students from high schools throughout the country spent June 13-19 at NAS Jax participating in a unique hands-on sailing program. The Interscholastic Sailing Association, South Atlantic Division, sponsors the 40-hour program.

Regulatory officials take environmental journey
Representatives of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), City of Jacksonville Environmental and Compliance Department, and the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) were briefed on the station's conservation, energy reduction, pollution-prevention and recycling programs June 18 by NAS Jax Commanding Officer Capt. Jack Scorby Jr. and NAS Jax Environmental Director Kevin Gartland.
